About this place
At Tori Jiro Shin-Koenji, diners can order more than skewers: twisted chicken skin, gyoza and white liver all feature among the dishes people enjoy. The chicken skin is available from an order of 1 skewers, with sets of 5 and 10 also on the menu. Between skewers, white liver and tsukune—seasoned with either salt or tare sauce—are options. One diner described the tsukune as “very delicious”; the menu also offers a moon-viewing version topped with egg yolk.
For a more substantial dish, there is Hakata-style mizutaki, a chicken hot pot with a rich white-chicken broth, and salt-seasoned abura motsunabe, a charcoal-seared offal hot pot described as having excess fat grilled away. One diner praised the soup gyoza, while the menu lists simmered gyoza, available from 2 serving. Charcoal-grilled chicken thigh comes in 80g, 160g and 240g portions, making it easy to choose between a meal built around skewers and small plates or one with a more substantial serving of meat.
Beyond the skewers, diners have also mentioned macaroni salad, which can be adjusted for spiciness, and French fries—handy choices for sharing. One visit record notes table seating at the back for around 8 people; reservations are available for groups. The restaurant is open daily from 17:00 until 1:00 the following day, so it can also suit a late dinner.
